Inspired by Honor Oak’s sponsorship of Grace, a young girl from Chatham, several members of the same family have done something very special.
The late WBro Ray Horn was a popular and distinguished Freemason. He had many family connections within the lodge and was known to all as ‘Uncle Ray’. Following his passing away on 10th October 2022, his family, WBros Stacy Harman and Phil Radcliffe and Bros Graham Harman and John Cairncross have established the Ray Horn Legacy.
This legacy will be used to sponsor sessions at Step and Learn for Beau, a 14 year old girl from Rainham with cerebral palsy.
Step and Learn is a charity dedicated to the physical and educational improvements of children with Cerebral Palsy and associated motor difficulties. The service they provide is not available on the NHS but is nonetheless provided free of charge to those that need it. Although based in Medway, there are currently 51 children benefitting from this service from across the whole of Kent, and a further 6 waiting to be assessed.
Beau has been attending Step and Learn since 2010 when she was just one year old. Her mother, Charlotte said, “I am extremely grateful & honoured that Beau has been chosen for sponsorship. The help & support Step and Learn have provided for her and for us as a family has been invaluable. They have been there for us every step of the way & through this wonderful charity we have made friends both at sessions & within the masons. We are very humbled, and rest assured that in the spirit of Ray’s memory we will update you with Beau’s progress, because without good people like you at Honor Oak Lodge, this wouldn’t be possible.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, WBro Stacy said, “Honor Oak has been supporting Step and Learn for nearly ten years now, and we couldn’t be more excited about sponsoring Beau’s sessions. It’s an amazing way for Ray’s name to live on and help such a great charity”.
